My main focus is not so much on calling for a constitutional convention in the near future as it is getting the many procedural issues clarified and agreed upon so that when such a convention happens, the discussions can be about the substance of the issues rather than nitpicking battles about procedure. In other words, lets get the nitpicking done first so that we can have debates cleanly focused on whatever the substance of an amendment might be, whether abortion, same-sex marriage, Congressional term limits, balanced budgets, or whatever.Michael Endershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15894626514847673764noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9351001.post-7372979407902505442012-05-14T03:02:16.903-04:002012-05-14T03:02:16.903-04:00Before a constitutional convention we need to have...Before a constitutional convention we need to have a serious discussion on key issues and come to core, fundamental agreements. These issues in the form of questions are important to come to grips with. Without a discussion about these questions that follow we have to depend on the supreme court to make judgements case by case without a cohesive overarching fundamental truth to rely on and that is understood by all in this American society. Some of the basic questions that need answering are: "What is life?" "When does life begin?" "What is the purpose of marriage?""Why is marriage defined as a covenant between a man and a woman?" The constitution can not be effectively revised without looking squarely at these questions and making some firm basic conclusions.Iris Paganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11564276403711694256noreply@blogger.com
